WHAT WE DO:
Prevention.Action.Change. works to counter harassment, assault, and abuse through safety strategies, verbal and physical skills, increased confidence and awareness, and the promotion of healing and growth.
Participants come away with new verbal and physical self defense skills, new perspectives on relationships and violence, tools and tips for increasing safety, and greater clarity about setting limits and expressing needs.
Prevention.Action.Change. offers a range of powerful programs delivered as weekend intensives, multi-session courses, lunch-n-learn seminars, and more.
Prevention.Action.Change. works with people of all ages, abilities, and backgrounds. Physical self defense techniques taught do not rely on fitness or strength and are highly adaptable.
THE INSTRUCTORS:
Lead instructor Clara Porter is a nationally certified self defense instructor with the National Women's Martial Arts Federation and the Center for Anti-Violence Education.
Porter holds a Masters of Social Work and has extensive experience working with youth and families. Assistant Instructors are individuals with backgrounds in health, counseling, visual arts, and martial arts who assist in PAC courses.
"The intersection of physical movement, internal exploration, and group experience is powerful. Seeing people gain understanding of the dynamics of violence in their own lives and make positive changes continually reinforces my commitment to this work."
- Clara Porter
